| The Berrien County Inferior Court authorized the issue of $5,000 in county scrip in the January term 1867. |
| $2,000 was to be redeemed 1 April 1868, $2,000 to be redeemed 1 January 1869 and $1,000 redeemed 1 April |
| 1869. No bills to be issued larger than $10.00 nor less than 25 cents. It is further ordered that D.P. Luke be |
| appointed Treasurer for that purpose and he be authorized to contract for the bills. On 5 February 1867, |
| Mr.Luke was paid $48.60 for services rendered the county for trip to and from Savannah. On 26 March 1867, |
| Mr. Luke was authorized to date and sign $4,000 of the Berrien County Treasury notes. On 23 April 1867, |
| Mr. Luke was authorized to be paid 21\2% for paying out the bills and 21/2% for taking in county notes. |
| On 1 October 1867, Mr. Luke was ordered to issue the balance of the notes. On 13 November 1867, all |
| orders authorizing the county scrip was revoked and all further issues of the notes to be issued in terms of |
| Act of 6 February 1866. On 5 December 1868 the county Treasurer was instructed not to receive anymore |
| county money in payment of county dues until further notice. The minutes contain no further mention of an |
| county issues. |
